Our Plan for Bermondsey and Old Southwark

Dr Jonathan ran in the 2024 election to make Bermondsey a better place. Here's how:

  • More housing and better quality housing

The Conservative party delivered 234,000 new homes last year and is on target for 1 million new homes over the course of this parliament.   We will deliver more housing and better quality housing in Bermondsey and Old Southwark.
  • More police out on our streets

20,000 more policemen have been put on the streets and crime nationally has been halved since 2010, while in Labour run areas you are 40% more likely to be a victim of crime. We will increase the number and visibility of police on our local streets.
  • Increase opportunities for young people

England is one of the top performing countries for education in the world with four million more people with a job than in 2010 and 5.5 million people starting apprenticeships in the UK since 2010. We will support young people by increasing opportunities.
  • Strengthen local NHS and Mental Health Services

A record number of doctors and nurses have been recruited while NHS funding has increased in real terms every year since 2010, delivering it an extra £700 million every week. We will strengthen local NHS GP and mental health services.
  • Reduce littering and fly tipping

The 2021 Environment Act contained many measures to help tackle waste crime, including new rules on the cost of disposal. A major step in the battle against littering. We will reduce littering and fly tipping in Bermondsey and Old Southwark.
